Crosspoint - Crossmedia - Amplify - RTVE

Crossmedia and Amplify Enhance RTVE’s Archive Metadata with AI and Automation

RTVE has awarded CROSSPOINT the implementation of AI capabilities in its Archive — a milestone project aimed at achieving new levels of efficiency and depth in audiovisual content analysis. This initiative marks a further step in RTVE’s digital transformation and intelligent management of its vast archive and media library. It will involve the automated analysis of over 20,000 hours of content annually, ensuring better accessibility and long-term preservation. The project also represents the first awarded tender combining the expertise of CROSSPOINT/CROSSMEDIA and AMPLIFY — a collaboration that sets the stage for future joint ventures in both Spanish and international markets.

CROSSMEDIA (part of ES MEDIA Group), in partnership with AMPLIFY, has been selected to deliver the automatic metadata service for RTVE’s historical audiovisual archive. The Spanish public broadcaster has entrusted this mission-critical task to the technology integrator, which will ensure seamless integration into RTVE’s existing archival workflows.

With the growing use of archive-based content in programs like Cachitos de Hierro y Cromo, Viaje al Centro de la Tele, and Conexión Vintage, and the rise of video-on-demand platforms like RTVE Play, RTVE has prioritized automated metadata processing since 2020. This approach not only improves access and discoverability but also maximizes the value and usability of the broadcaster’s rich content library.

The awarded service will automate the analysis of 20,000 hours per year: 18,000 hours of Spanish audio, 5,000 hours of video, and 5,000 hours of multilingual audio

Following the completion of the previous service contract, RTVE launched a new tender with enhanced requirements. The broadcaster aims to catalog over 198,000 hours of heritage-rich content from regional centers and cinema archives — a vital resource for content production.

The awarded service will automate the analysis of 20,000 hours per year: 18,000 hours of Spanish audio, 5,000 hours of video, and 5,000 hours of multilingual audio. AMPLIFY’s AI-based platform, SEIRI, will be deployed to streamline the entire process, enabling rapid search, review, and reuse of archival content.

A high-demand, AI-driven Project

Set to launch on October 1 after final deployment in September, the service includes comprehensive audio processing capabilities. In addition to speech-to-text transcription, CROSSMEDIA and AMPLIFY tools will handle punctuation and capitalization, named entity recognition (NER), keyword extraction aligned with RTVE standards, automatic content classification by format (e.g. documentary, interview, news), summary generation, gender identification, and voice-based identity recognition of public figures. Semantic segmentation will automatically timecode and divide content by story and speaker, especially in news and magazine programs.

From a visual perspective, the system identifies people onscreen, recognizes public figures, detects alphanumeric characters (OCR), identifies logos and brands, detects objects, classifies scenes, and generates image descriptions. Particularly critical is the system’s ability to identify and timestamp key editorial segments in RTVE’s news content — including intros, headlines, sports blocks, weather segments, live signals, reporter standups, and end credits.

Set to launch on October 1 after final deployment in September, the service includes comprehensive audio and video processing capabilities

Multilingual analysis covers transcription and translation of content in Catalan, Galician, Basque, Valencian, and Balearic languages into Spanish. The system will also undergo proof-of-concept trials for advanced use cases such as applause detection, hate speech detection, image-based search, and music recognition.

CROSSMEDIA will train RTVE’s internal teams to independently operate the platform, supported by a help desk available 12 hours per day and a maximum response time of 48 hours.

CROSSPOINT/CROSSMEDIA and AMPLIFY: A strategic alliance with global reach

The RTVE project is the first step in a broader strategic agreement between CROSSPOINT/CROSSMEDIA and AMPLIFY. The partnership aims to deploy automatic metadata extraction and summary generation tools across broadcast and OTT ecosystems in all markets where both companies operate.

At the heart of the project is SEIRI, a “digital archivist” capable of analyzing audiovisual content and extracting highly structured data. With an intuitive interface, natural language queries, and seamless integration into archival databases and editing tools, SEIRI enables efficient metadata workflows for media professionals.

Another key technology from AMPLIFY is GeNews, a generative AI tool that creates video news pieces — including scripts, footage selection, voiceover, and basic editing — based on form inputs. Fully compatible with archival databases, it enhances new content creation with historical footage and metadata.

Víctor García, Managing Director of CROSSPOINT, commented: “We are thrilled to have signed a framework collaboration agreement with AMPLIFY — a company led by top-tier professionals we’ve known for decades. They’ve brought their deep expertise into developing highly advanced tools, enabling the execution of complex projects such as the automatic metadata enrichment of the RTVE Archive.

We look forward to continuing this partnership and expanding into new markets, supported by our global presence as part of ES Media Group. In this context, Memnon —also part of the group— plays a strategic role in large-scale archive digitization and the implementation of AI-driven solutions.”

Aaron López, CEO and Founder of AMPLIFY, added: “Partnering with a trusted, high-caliber integrator like CROSSPOINT/CROSSMEDIA enables us to deliver on our most ambitious goals. This collaboration with RTVE is a major milestone — and just the beginning of our shared roadmap to serve public and private media organizations with cutting-edge AI solutions.”

Crossmedia Primer Parter Fastly en Europa

Crossmedia, Top Partner of Fastly in the European Ranking

Crossmedia becomes the top-ranked partner in Fastly’s European partner ranking and achieves recognition as a global Platinum Partner

Crossmedia, the digital division of Crosspoint in the Media world, has just received recognition as a global Platinum Partner by Fastly, solidifying its position as the top partner in the European ranking for cloud content delivery network (CDN) solutions. This achievement is a result of Crossmedia’s unwavering commitment and dedication in providing CDN services to renowned companies in the industry, including RTVE, EiTB, and TV3, among others. Notably, RTVE currently relies on Fastly’s service supplied by Crossmedia for its primary VOD CDN requirements, delivering content for RTVE Play, Clan, Smart TV, and more, as well as for web services like www.rtve.es. Additionally, Fastly, in collaboration with Crossmedia, facilitates the distribution of live and on-demand video content for TV3 and EiTB’s streaming services. Fastly’s CDN solution has proven its exceptional performance and reliability in high-traffic events such as Eurovision and the Christmas Lottery, among many others.

Crossmedia, a brand of the ES Broadcast Group specifically developed for the digital business, has become a reference in OTT and streaming solutions for broadcasters and content producers in Spain. The scope of Crossmedia’s activities extends beyond the distribution of the brands it represents, encompassing customized solutions through its in-house development team. An example of this is the development of a management panel for occasional streaming channels for À Punt, where all broadcast and streaming streams of the Valencian television have been integrated into a single interface.

This latest recognition validates Crossmedia’s ability to offer state-of-the-art technological solutions for new digital operators, including broadcasters, production companies, cultural venues, media outlets, and sports clubs. Thus, Crossmedia continues to establish itself as a convergence point and link between television, IP networks, and digital media, providing value and reliability across its portfolio of solutions.

Crossmedia X-Live Panel

X-Live Panel by Crossmedia, integrating broadcast workflows into the streaming world

Crossmedia, Crosspoint’s digital division, has developed a new product whose mission is to integrate the broadcast flows of broadcasters with the publication and the launch of streaming services on digital platforms: X-Live Panel.

Jorge Frías, Head of Digital Media at Crossmedia, mentions that the vocation of Crosspoint’s digital division:

“is precisely to provide comprehensive solutions to connect the broadcast world with the digital world. All Crosspoint’s experience in the control of broadcast equipment, along with the wide range of digital and OTT solutions that we handle in Crossmedia, allow us to undertake such projects with the maximum solvency”.

Thanks to this and with the trust of À Punt Mèdia “we have been able to develop a very complete product that provides a solution to all their needs, both at an engineering and operational level, and that we can easily adapt to other environments and customers thanks to its modular architecture. X-Live Panel is precisely the nexus that allows us to convert traditional broadcast flows into new ways of exploiting content in the OTT environment such as FAST channels or Pop-Up Channels.”

À Punt (Valencia Regional TV) leading the creation of Pop-Up streaming channels

Fernando Monsalve, Head of Engineering at À Punt comments:

“The challenge we set ourselves internally in À Punt was to have an end-to-end solution that could solve the flow of digital channel publishing, where a single operator could launch and control the generation of these channels with full control from the broadcast router to the different digital publishing platforms that we are currently covering”. In this way, “X-Live Panel has greatly facilitated and simplified the internal flows of operation and engineering, and has managed to combine in a single tool all the needs we had in our MCR for the publication of occasional pop-up channels such as Fallas, press conferences or sports; all in parallel to the fixed schedules of linear channels 24×7”.

Crossmedia - OTT Solutions Experts

Crossmedia, the reference partner for OTT in Spain

Crossmedia, the Crosspoint brand specially developed for digital media business, becomes the reference partner for a good number of broadcasters and content producers in Spain.

To the well-known successes achieved at the CCMA (TV3) with the HTTP and HTTPS web traffic acceleration and distribution service, through leading CDN solution Fastly or OVP platform Brightcove for My Opera Player in Teatro Real, recently Crossmedia has added awards of great relevance in the digital field.

Proof of the above is the trust placed by CVMC (À Punt) in Crossmedia when it comes to renewing its VOD service and live streaming with Brightcove Video Cloud and its OTT encoding and streaming cluster with MediaExcel. Also at the end of last year, the award by EiTB of CDN services for web acceleration and delivery of live content to Crossmedia with the solutions provided by Fastly was made official.

RTVE currently has the Fastly service provided by Crossmedia for its main CDN VOD requirements for delivering RTVE content on demand, Clan, Smart TV’s etc., Media Shield and secondary web CDN. Recently it was able to test and contrast the reliability of Fastly‘s solution in highly relevant events for RTVE, such as the last Christmas Lottery draw.

To the previous list of references must be added the award of RTVG for the service of capture, analysis and distribution of Big Data of the corporation. The result will be the construction of a specific Data Lake for the media of the RTVG corporation prepared for the collection of data applied to the optimization of the processes and decision-making in certain productive flows of the RTVG (programmatic, commercial, strategic, etc.). This service will be offered by Crossmedia thanks to another solution from its portfolio, Konodrac, which also has among its solutions powerful metrics and user management tools, in addition to Addressable TV, its new solution specially designed for advertising and interactivity in HbbTV environments.

Since its launch, Crossmedia has opted for top-level solutions for each of the areas required in the OTT digital ecosystem (OVP, CDN, streaming, encoding, analytics…). To this group of leading brands such as Fastly or Brightcove has also been added Conviva, which is a leader in intelligence for streaming video and TV services, powered by its real-time data platform. They have a unique modular 360º solution to meet the demand for analytics in advertising, user experience, content and social networks.

Crossmedia‘s activity is not only focused on the distribution of the brands it represents but also on the deployment of customized solutions thanks to its own development team. Proof of this has been the development of a management panel for eventual streaming channels for À Punt, where it has integrated all broadcast flows (master control room router of Grass Valley) and streaming (Brightcove and MediaExcel) of Valencian television into a single interface.

As the aforementioned references demonstrate, Crossmedia has become a reference partner in Spain for a good number of broadcasters and content producers and acts as a link between broadcast and OTT platforms, establishing itself as a point of confluence between television, IP networks and digital media. Its mission is to guarantee solvency and reliability by providing state-of-the-art technological solutions for new digital operators, whether they are broadcasters, production companies, cultural venues, the media or sports clubs.
